About River:

River came to us needing a home. We took him in and gave him a second chance at life. River is very youthful for his age and the first to meet you at the gate. He loves to be groomed and engaged with. We suspect there has been no hard riding in his past as he still seems fit as a whistle. Has shown no signs at all of arthritis and genuinely enjoys getting out on the trails and long trotting for miles. Our trainers have used River to drive cattle, push through bogs and sloughs, navigate through thick brush and downfall and long trot perimeters to check miles of fences. River has proven to be a solid saddle horse who hasn’t offered to spook or buck once, even when things get a little chaotic or loud around him.

VICES:

His vice is being buddy sour. If you tie him alone or try to ride away from other horses he will have a tantrum and paw the ground hard. For this reason if he is sold before the next working season (where our trainers will have time to work him through the problem) he is best for a confident rider of at least an intermediate level. Our trainers suspect this problem will not last long at all once he is put into consistent work.
